Father's Day Whisky Festival – Sun 17 June

Whisky and Spirits List | Masterclasses | Festival Glasses

Tickets will be available from January 2018.

We're hosting our first-ever whisky festival on Father's Day at Stonehenge Works, so you can treat dad to a ride on a steam train and a few drams. Entry to the festival is free with a train ticket, and spirits prices start at just £1.

We'll be operating our enhanced service. The festival will open on arrival of the first train of the day at 1055 and last pour will be at 1600, 25 minutes before the last departure to Page's Park.

The festival will be hosted by knowledgeable staff who will be able to help you choose the right whisky for you, and to answer any questions you may have. We know not everyone likes whisky, so there will also be a small selection of other spirits and cocktails. Plus soft drinks will be available for children and drivers.

In addition, there will be themed masterclasses held throughout the day by our experts. Each class will be limited to 10 attendees and will take place in our Simplex museum. The price of the masterclass includes a 1cl pour of each whisky, plus an engraved glass tumbler for you to keep, worth £10. You can also add a gift box to the glass for an extra £3.

Tickets for the masterclasses will only be sold in advance (with no booking fee) from the Ticketsource website and will not be available on our website or at the station booking office. Please note that due to the limited capacity, bookings will initially be restricted to two tickets per customer per masterclass, and that these tickets are for the masterclasses only, and do not include entry to the festival

Breakfast whiskies, 11.15-11.45, £12

Before lunch is the best time to taste, when your palate is fresh. We'll taste three sweeter or fruitier whiskies that are great introduction to the festival offerings:

  • Craigellachie 2000, 46%, Scotland
  • Michter's US*1 Sour Mash, 43%, USA
  • Nikka Coffey Malt, 45%, Japan

1970s and 1980s Scotch, 12.15-12.45, £25

Scotch whiskies made in the 1970s and 1980s were of a different style to today's releases. Try four drams from this famed era, all bottled by historic merchant Berry Bros & Rudd:

  • Caol Ila 1984, 53.7%
  • Glenburgie 1983, 40%
  • Glen Grant 1974, 49.3%
  • Invergordon 1971, 48%

Long-lost whiskies of the world, 13.15-13.45, £15

You will try three whiskies from around the world which are sadly no longer in production – a chance to taste some liquid history:

  • Amrut (2007 Release), 40%, India
  • Ardmore 2002 'Hornby Double O', 58.4%, Scotland
  • Suntory Hakushu 12 Year Old, 43.5%, Japan

One distillery, three styles, 14.15-14.45, £12

A distillery can produce more than one style of whisky. You will be taken through three whiskies from Speyside distillery Glen Moray, each very different:

  • Glen Moray Port Cask, 40%
  • Glen Moray Peated, 40%
  • Glen Moray 18 Year Old, 47.2%

Peated whiskies, 15.15-15.45, £12

Smoky whiskies are a great way to end the day. Three heavily peated drams will be on offer from around the UK:

  • Compass Box Peat Monster Reserve, 48.9%
  • English Whisky Co. Chapter 11, 46%
  • Port Askaig 15 Year Old Sherry Cask, 45.8%

Festival Glasses

Due to licensing restrictions, drams will be served in disposable plastic glasses on the day, however we will be selling commemorative glass tumblers, engraved with the railway's logo.

A limited number of these festival glasses will be available on the day for £10. Pre-order yours before the 30 April and save 10% (only £9). You can add a gift box for £3, too.

Please note gift-boxed glasses will not be available on the day and will only be available by purchasing in advance via the Ticketsource website.
